Veteran Spotlight: We Salute Our Veterans

In celebration of Veteran’s Day, we salute our active military and veterans throughout the Real Property Management family. Here are a few:

Sage Agbonkhese – Franchise Support Center, Layton, UT [U.S. Air Force]

Erik Boltman –Anchorage, AK [Air National Guard, active]

James F. Campbell –Columbia, SC [U.S. Army]

Daniel Hallum – Salt Lake City, UT [U.S. Marine Corps]

Carl Lorenzen – Omaha, NE [U.S. Air Force]

John Michailidis – Sarasota, FL [U.S. Army]

Darus Trutna –Humboldt, CA [U.S. Army]

Joe Young –Spokane, WA [U.S. Army]

Demarius M. Washington –Columbia, SC [U.S. Army National Guard, active]

In addition, here are three veterans who transitioned from military life to becoming a Real Property Management owner.

Riley-Ockerman-150x150Riley Ockerman –Lehigh Valley, PA [U.S. Marine Corps]

As a Marine Corps veteran, Riley understands the military lifestyle which often means moving every three to four years, sometimes to areas with no ties to friends or family. Real Property Management helps military personnel by providing property management services to those who wish to keep their property after a move or during deployment.

“I appreciate what they go through, because I have been through it myself. The bottom line was: I saw that fellow marines had a problem, and there was a niche that needed to be filled. Real Property Management does a good job filling it.  It was an easy transition for me because I am able to utilize the skills gained in the military, such as working in an uncertain environment and being my own boss. And I help meet a need in my community by providing a service to the military.”

Caleb-Page-150x150Caleb Page –Boston, MA [U.S. Coast Guard]

After finding success as a corporate executive, Caleb decided he wanted to start his own business. Using the leadership and business skills acquired from both the military and Fortune 500 companies, Caleb identified Real Property Management as a complement to other businesses he owned and his experience base.

Caleb sites his Coast Guard experience as positively contributing to his skills and success as a business owner. “As an enlisted person, you receive responsibility early. As an officer, it’s easy to get crushed with the number of competing demands for your time. The extremely stressful missions and the dynamic leadership situations we encountered prepared me to realize what is truly important, how to prioritize, and how to work with people to make the outcome successful.”

Stewart Guthrie –Sacramento, CA [U.S. Marine Corps]

Stewart and his wife, Kathryn, had previous experience in entrepreneurship before their interest in the real estate market led Stewart to Real Property Management and entering the property management industry.

As a Marine veteran, Stewart also brings his experience serving in the military into his skill set as a business owner. “Being in the military has given me the necessary skills to do what needs to be done and deal with a broad spectrum of people. Being a business owner in general requires a lot of self-starting and can be a challenge because different people have different strengths.”

Stewart says Real Property Management has provided an opportunity for growth. “When I stand back and look at my decision, I’m very glad. Real Property Management has done nothing but provide support and I’m happier every day I’m part of the company.”
